Opera singer
Born in Mezőtúr, Viktória Mester has worked with outstanding conductors since the very start of her career. As a member of the National Theatre of Miskolc, she enchanted audiences in the role of Carmen, and at the Opera House, she takes the stage in operas by Rossini, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Strauss.
She was born in Mezőtúr in 1977. She began her singing studies at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music, Békéscsaba. In 1996, she was admitted to Mária Toldy's musical studio where her singing teacher was Judit Kővári. A year later she joined the Choir of the Hungarian Radio, and later the National Choir. In the latter company she worked with such outstanding masters as Kobayashi Ken-Ichiro, Zoltán Kocsis and György Solti. In 1998, she was admitted to the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, where she studied with Éva Andor and Balázs Kovalik. She was a permanent guest singer of the Miskolc National Theatre for four seasons, where she sang, among others, the title role of Carmen, and Nicklausse in Les contes d'Hoffmann. She made her debut in the Hungarian State Opera House in October 2006 in the role of Maddalena in Rigoletto. Here, she also enjoyed a great success as Carmen.
