Plácido Domingo's first appearance on the stage at the Budapest Opera House was seen at the Shakespeare Gala on 6 February. Besides the legendary tenor, the programme featured seventeen opera singers, two ballet soloists, fourteen ballet dancers, a sixty-member choir, a seventy-piece orchestra and three conductors. They performed pieces mostly inspired by William Shakespeare. 

The third charity event took place in this new form, whose aim was to let as many witness the first appearance of the legendary tenor as possible. Therefore, unlike in previous years, the auditorium was not transformed into one huge ballroom, and the most beautiful spaces in the Opera House gained new functions.

On Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2015 public figures, scientists and artist met for a mutual charitable purpose at the Ybl Palace of wonders. In the gala programme based on the theme Faust the internationally renowned soprano, Angela Gheorghiu made her Hungarian debut.

In the rooms of the Opera House science exhibitions and classical music as well as jazz, swing and Latin melodies entertained our guests. Once again, the Dalszínház StreetBall provided a less formal type of fun and a possibility to donate. The morning after, disadvantaged children watched a fairy tale opera in the enormous ballroom at the Breadcrumb Ball.

On 1 March 2014, the tradition of the balls at the Opera House was revived. Significant personalities of the nation, renowned public and business people as well as internationally acclaimed figures of the art and sports met in a noble cause.

As one of the highlights of the Richard Strauss season, the gala programme featured pieces by the German composer. Audiences were also delighted by balett and sports performances by young sportspeople. In the meantime, those preferring a less formal type of entertainment got the chance to participate in this social event and donate as well at the Dalszínház StreetBall next to the Opera House.
